Idaho Panhandle National Forest - Sam Owen Campground

July 7-9, 2017

Idaho Panhandle National Forest

Sam Owen campground is situated on a peninsula on the east side of
Lake Pend Oreille in the Idaho Panhandle National Forest.

Our site at Sam Owen

It's pretty big!

Beautiful views of the forest at the back of our campsite. Saw lots of deer grazing in the mornings and evenings.

Pretty sunsets and campfires every night

The lake spans 82,088 acres and has 125 miles of shoreline.

The beach area in our campground

Put the kayaks in the water one evening for a sunset float

Within walking distance of our campground was Beyond Hope Resort with a nice restaurant and bar with outdoor seating on the lake.

The marina for Beyond Hope - our campground is across the marina in the pines.

On Sunday afternoons, Beyond Hope hosted musicians and all were welcome.

The marina got pretty full at sunset

This was a really relaxing stop along our whirlwind tour of the US! No hiking, biking, or touring at this stop.

Off to Moyie Springs, Idaho next!
